Yes if you have enough money and some knowledge of at least english or even better Thai. It's also an asset to have a few hobbies in order not to get bored. One can also engage in charity-projects.

why would you put a link in french in a english section of YA. not very smart. as for retiring here if your smart enough you can have a wonderful and easy life.

I have retired and living and lovin in Thailand for 4 years now... No problems so far.. but I think all Expats worry a little about what will happen after the King expires
