How cheaply could I live in Thailand

How cheaply could I live in Thailand?
I actually stayed in Thailand before so I know what to expect, as far as living conditions etc. But I forgot the prices of things. So I want to go back and stay there longer this time. I realize Chiang Mai and Isaan areas are cheaper, but how cheaply do you think I could live in Bangkok (or the outskirts where it might be cheaper)? realistically Just like monthly, for food and motel only. I dont want to live in a guesthouse or a hostel, just a motel/hotel with air conditioning. I just need to know Food and Motel/Hotel Yes Ive been to Thailand http://www.youtube.com/thailandtl http://www.myspace.com/cjthai I call it motel, in USA we call cheap places motels, expensive places hotels. I say motel to stress that I want a cheap place.

$500 - $900 US dollars for one month will do it, including food! Check out Pattaya, lots of variety for lodging. Good restaurants too. Lots of supermarkets. You can stay in a cheap place and eat crappy food or stay in a better place and eat better food! Cheap hotel with air starts around 350 baht per day. Been to Thailand - motel???? Most of the motels are on the highways out in the sticks. In Thailand hotels and hostels will be reasonably priced! Happy trails.

well, once you get out into the neighborhoods, it should be cheaper but any hotel/motel is not likely going to be the cheapest way to go - I know of pretty decent places in CM, boutique hotel where you can rent a room for $200 a month but I do not think you will get close to that in bkk - you could easily do CM for $500 a month, Bkk might be twice that for something not as ince...

Best bet is to stay in Pattaya and if you need to travel to BKK get a bus 200 bht each way. Depends what your budget is - you can get 1 bedroom condos for 7000 bht a month or rent from a room from a Thai for 3000 Bht a month Up To You ( as the locals say ) Some Hotels do long stay offers . An American chap I know stays in Siam Sawasdee for 7500 Bht a month. As for food - well if you like Thai but you like to eat 3 times a day 400 Bht should do you - but if you have condo buy from 7-11 and cook yourself you can easily manage on 200 Bht a day. Some Thai people a know eaen as little as 150Bht a day so if they can mange I am sure you will be able to as well. Enjoy yourself in the Land of Smiles

I'm Thai but not living in Bangkok. I live in a small quiet peaceful town called Phrae. It's in north of thailand, not so far from Chiang Mai (4 hours of driving). Everything here is cheap (because it's a small town), you can get a room @ the apartment I know of for 3,000/month, food starts @ 15 baht.

Cheap accommodation you can get an apartment for as little as 2000-3000 baht a month in Nonthaburi which is the next province outside Bangkok but only 30 minutes to the centre. This includes an air-con and hot water. Food can be eaten on the streets as little as 20 baht per meal / snack or a full blown meal in the food centre in most malls about 50-60 baht Beer is about 30 baht Large Leo, Singha or 60 Baht Large Heineken from 7-11 store and from 80-110 baht Small from expat bars. Best way to get a good deal is to get a Thai to negotiate a price for an apartment or Condo. Also try LPN Condo there is alot of being rented out at about 10000 baht which is top end of the market

I don't understand why people think it is so much cheaper in The north or north east. Is it really? I live very inexpensively in Pattaya. It all depends on how you live.
