I've been offered jobs in each of the three cities, and want to know if anyone has an idea in terms of which would be best. I want a beach-type lifestyle that is relaxed, but not so far off the map that the place is dead at 530PM. But, I want to avoid being a tourist trap filled with prostitutes. Any ideas? Lopburi is also an option, although it's not on the beach.

Chonburi is the best choice even if there are bars and such. The other places will be pretty dull in the evening after the first week or so. Yes, there are bars and etc. in Pattaya but there are also good malls, good restaurants, good hospitals/dentists, several movie theaters, cheap transportation and a relaxed life style. Lots of family groups, couples and retirees visit there despite what you might imagine. What do you think will happen if you walk by a bar in Pattaya? Are you afraid that someone in a bar will force you to come in at gunpoint or some other threat? Thousands of people pass by these areas every day and are never molested by anyone in a bar. Having tourists around is probably the reason that an area will be more lively at night time! With no tourists around you have a dull city unless you are a Thai. Perhaps staying in an apartment in the Naklua or Jomtien area of Pattaya will do for you. This way you will be further away from the popular tourist areas. I don't think you can be in a place that has the nightlife you want without any tourists around. Just an opinion. Of course visiting these places before you commit to anything would also help too! That way you can decide for yourself. Good luck.

Not sure if you mean the city of Chumphon, Chonburi or Trat, or do you mean in these provinces. When someone says Chonburi everyone thinks Pattaya but Chonburi has many areas near the beach and far from the beach that has nothing to do with Pattaya, it all depends on what Ampour and district your living in. The same is true for Chumphon and Trat. My recommendation would first be Chonburi, and Chumphon and Trat being a far second and third.
