Live your life somewhere else Phuket is one of the most expensive places in Thailand. Best but cheap? tell me where you can find that in your country. Try going to some remote village in the northeast, it's the best cheap place in Thailand.

Have you ever tried Chiang Mai, the Rose of the North? Cost of living is much cheaper than Phuket. The weather is cooler and full of beautiful nature. People are very friendly and hospitable!

Phuket is probably second behind Bangkok as the most expensive place to live in Thailand.

Phuket is the most expensive place to live at for 3 months in Thailand. You can even live cheaper in Bangkok and not have to pay for a plane ride to get there too! But this all depends on what you are comparing the cost to. Phuket is definitely cheaper than Tokyo, Moscow or New York but not the cheapest place in Thailand. Pattaya, only a cheap 2 hour bus ride from Bangkok, will be cheaper than Bangkok and Phuket. In Pattaya you have a beach, malls, movie theaters, supermarkets, hospitals, nightlife and cheap hotels. Transportation is only 10 baht in Pattaya, compare that to Phuket! http://www.tripadvisor.com/SearchForums?scope=2&ff=3686&geo=293915&q=transportation+in+phuket&sub-search.x=0&sub-search.y=0&sub-search=Click+to+search+forums&returnTo=__2F__ http://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g293920-s304/Phuket:Thailand:Taxis.And.Rental.Cars.html Some small village in the middle of nowhere may be pretty cheap if just vegetating for 3 months is all you want. It all depends on what you want. Post your question on this forum too. Many expats who live in Thailand full time answer questions like yours all the time. Also understand what you have to do to stay in Thailand for 3 months. You just can't just stay in Thailand as long as you want - there are rules to follow! http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/

Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket are the most expensive places to live in Thailand. If you want to go really cheap, stay in Isaan area. Or find a small remote village somewhere along the coast. It'll be more expensive than Isaan, but cheaper than Phuket.

Yes, Phuket is one of the most expensive places to live in Thailand. It's more expensive than even Bangkok, because there are so many tourist. I was told that it is even more expensive than Samui Island, and I've just been to Samui. Starbuck is 30% more expensive, and cab fair is 200 baht anywhere. The Song taw or taxi looking more like Jipney in Manila cost 50 baht, that's more than 10 times the price of Bangkok.

Phuket is the most expensive place by far and is not a good base to explore Thailand anyway. If you are going to Thailand for 3 months then you need to do your homework and make an Itinerary to explore this Wonderful Country within your budget. check out sawadee.com , for transport links and what to see and do , check out agoda.com,hotelscombined.com and hostelworld and hostelbookers for cheap rates on accommodation. If you just want to stay in one place then rent an apartment for 3 months - being Westerner expect to pay at least 8000-10,000 Baht a month. You will need a minimum of 75,000Baht for your trip but to enjoy yourself 200,000 baht.

Khon Kaen is very easy place to live and relax out in the countryside Not that much to do but has shopping centres and places to eat etc If you stay in BKK you will go through money very fast Try to find a place that you can get around easy and not have to rely on taxis
