I have a non-immigrant 'o' visa in thailand. How can I change this to a non-immigrant 'b' visa?
I have lived in Thailand with a non immigrant 'o' visa since July however I need to look for work. I understand that I need a non immigrant 'b' visa. How can I switch to that one?

i believe you can only request a non immi B if you have a letter from the company thats going to hire you. so now that you're just looking for a job, you're fine on the 'O'. and you cannot change sub-type of visa w/in ctry i.e. you have to travel outside of thailand to get one then come back and extend it at a later time when required. hope i help. i can give you a website (forum) that has full details on all these and more ppl with expertise to answer your q's ... i don't think its appropriate for me to post the web address here so hit me up, happy to help. have a great day.

Find a job, leave the country apply for the visa enter the kingdom. Apply for a work permit. 2.1 Non-Immigrant Visa Category “B” (Business Visa) is issued to applicants who wish to enter the Kingdom to work or to conduct business. (1) Foreigners who wish to work in Thailand must provide the following documents: - Passport or travel document with validity of not less than 6 months. - Completed visa application form. - Recent passport-sized photograph (4 x 6 cm) of the applicant taken within the past 6 months. - Evidence of adequate finance (20,000 Baht per person and 40,000 Baht per family). - Letter of approval from the Ministry of Labour. To obtain this letter, the applicant’s prospective employer in Thailand is required to submit Form WP3 at the Office of Foreign Workers Administration, Department of Employment, Ministry of Labour Tel. 02-2452745, or at the Provincial Employment Office in his or her respective province. More information is available at www.doe.go.th/workpermit/index.html - Copy of Work Permit issued by the Ministry of Labour and alien income tax or Por Ngor Dor 91 (only in the case where applicant has previously worked in Thailand). - Corporate documents of hiring company in Thailand

If it is a Non-imm O Retirement visa then follow the instructions of Negeshia. If it is a Non-imm O Thai Wife visa you can get a work permit without changing your visa.

Geomark got it right, you may not have to leave the country to get your visa, more information would be helpful.

Get an apartment, doesnt need to be anything fancy, but you can get them for quite cheap. Or you could get a job in a guesthouse, and in return they might give you a free room. Cheapese option would be to live by the sea and sleep in a tent... thats free! Dont need to worry about snow or it getting too cold.
3 :
I would think Pattaya... It's not as upscale as Phuket, and you can get really good deals on apartments. The beach there ain't much to look at (Pattaya's known for other things, if y' know what i mean-- wink wink!). You could probably get a studio for something like 20,000 baht per month, just don't get picky...

One off the islands on either east or west coast. I lived on koh toa mainly. My bungalow was about £45 a month and was write on the beach. Although i did know the owners. I think if you decide you are going to stay on one of the islands for the whole year and tell them when you get there, they will give you the same price. Otherwise it is about £100 a month. It makes it easier to travel aswell as you don't have to carry all your stuff from place to place.

Try Cha'am - more of a thai beach resort though plenty of foreigners, restaurants etc.. and far cheaper than Pattaya etc.. pleasant place - - think you can still get decent lodging there for 3-4,000 baht a month.. there are shop houses w/living upstairs on soi bus station that rent for abt 4000 baht per month [ $100 ] - - and it is abt 2+ hrs to bkk
6 :
You should just go there and make enquiries. Lodging can be pretty cheap, as they give you discount for long stay. So, find the place you like and look around. If you are not too fussy.

Its roughly around 30-31 baht, but closer to 30 and its still going down. Wouldn't be suprised if it gets even lower by the end of the year.
2 :
The current rate of exchange is 31.45 Thailand no longer has a dual exchange rate for domestic and international exchange of Thai Baht. However, you will more likely get a better rate of Exchange in Thailand than abroad, but the difference will be 1/2 a baht as opposed to 2 baht under the dual rate policy. The exchange rate has changed VERY little since March 1
3 :
Today's Bangkok Post quotes the rate at $1.00= 31.45 THB, expect to get 31.2 THB or so at a bank or currency exchange when exchanging large bills ($50-$100 bills). The dollar has actually strengthened very slightly for the last couple of weeks.
4 :
THE BEST PLACE to get the best rate is name "Super Rich". This shop is just opposite to Central World. If you wanna know more about Thailand and Bangkok, try this website. It got a lot of interesting information.
