Best job for a foreigner, in my opinion, is to work for a foreign company that has high wages! Why would any Thai company hire you at a wage higher than a Thai citizen? If the wages you can earn in your country are higher than what ordinary Thais make doing the same job then go with a company from your country doing business there. Sometimes outside companies also pay for your apartment and a food allowance too! Until then, to make yourself more marketable you should learn to read and write Thai! Some government agencies, such as your embassy or military assistance groups often have an office in foreign countries.

thats a high salary for Thailand, so you might want to work for a large multi-national. What skills can you offer? The UNHCR or UNICEF have some brilliant posts and you would be doing something really worthwhile. It would help if you started to learn Thai, Lao or Isan if your serious about this
3 :
Most of the jobs are reserved for locals. The general rule is that if it can be done by a local then its hard for a foreigner to get it.
4 :
Well, it seems you better find something that you are qualified to do and then find out if there is work in that field - hotels like foreign managers but they want schooling and expereince in the field... The job most often and maybe easily pursued is English teaching but it might not pay that much.. good luck to you..

As Karazyal said, the best jobs are working for foreign national companies who have operations in Thailand. Among the friends I have who work here in Thailand, a couple of them are IT professionals who work for IBM, one is a software team project manager who is redesigning the software for one of the major banks, the other is in regional sales, another friend works for a French retailer and is in charge of opening new retail outlets in Asia. As someone else also posted, Thailand has a very closed and protective job market (as do most countries) and most jobs working for Thai companies are not even available to foreign workers. This is a good website to see what kind of jobs are available and the qualifications and the type of experience you'll need, good luck: http://www.jobjob.co.th/en/

I just hope and pray that you wont be another farang teacher teaching in schools without a proper degree and demanding to be paid 50,000 Baht. good luck to you, anyway.
7 :
You need to get a skill to enable you to earn that much money in Thailand. You need professional qualifications that the Thai cannot get easily, this will put you in better stead in the competition for jobs. As noted, the locals can be paid less, they will get the job most times. Since you are talking about living in Thailand fior the rest of your life, you might want to consider completing your studies well and scouting for jobs especially with a foreign link.
8 :
the average salary in Thailand is 40,000 and alot of factory workers get alot less than that. You could do several jobs Teacher is the most common, but don't expect that salary straight away look at www.ajarn.com Wait till you have a skill before you come here to Thailand. Engineers degreed get about 40,000 a month so you will be pushing it. Bar Manager will help with some pin money and maybe keep you sober? Where in TH are you planning to stay?

there are so many facts needed to determine the cost of living here in Thailand, First off location, do you want to live in a big city like Bangkok, small town, or a resort area, prices can be from $150 dollars to $1,000 a month, also to consider is do you want hot water and air condition. water is rather cheap here I pay no more then 100 baht a month, but electric is about the same as the states (high). Transportation is cheap from taxi for 35 for the first two km. Or take a local bus that can run from 7 baht or air condition bus for about 20 baht. I think the best thing to do is come here for a vacation at least twice before you decided to live here and check the place out travel to other location outside of Bangkok to get a better view of the area. Other other thing to think about is the visa requirements to live here, you need to check to see if your qualify for a long stay visa. You can e-mail me if you like to ask other questions.

$1000 a month maybe??? thailand is really expensive now
3 :
Actually - Thai is becoming more expensive especially for Americans as the $$ buys fewer baht - down maybe 20% in the last couple of years... Be more specific and drop the question back into play.. It will depend on your definiton of "nice" and where you want to be - I live in a farming village - we built a nice house and our monthly expenses are abt $30 for electric and water - which is 10x more than the rest of the family here because we have a large garden to water and a/c.. In the small city nearby, you can rent a decent western style house for abt $100.. and noodle soup is still 10 baht [ 30 cents ] - so, beach and city are more expensive..
4 :
You can find a decent clean and safe apartment, room or condo for under $300. US dollars. As for living expenses=---a little or a lot....depends on what you want to do and how you want to live.
5 :
I think that there was a question about this a couple of weeks ago that I didn't answer because the figure of USD1,600 a month had already been suggested by a couple of people which I think is about right. Maybe a bit - but not much - less if living outside Bangkok - in which case you may need a car.

Where? The answer would be Thailand. Do you mean what do they live in? Major Cities? I don't understand the question.
2 :
What do you mean? I can't really understand your question either. I guess the biggest concentration of people are in cities like Bangkok and Chiang Mai. But people live... anywhere? Along the shores, along bordering countries, outback, big cities, etc.
3 :
Of course - in a house or an aparment or Condominium (-__-" )
4 :
Here, there, and everywhere. A lot of people live in Bangkok, it surronding cities: Salaya, Kanchanburi, Ayuttaya, etc. and other major tourist areas. The rest of the provinces have less people. I live around, and I'm not going to be specific, Bangkok.
5 :
All over the country, in houses, apartments, and shanties
6 :
may be you're coming from Saturn or Mars........I don't know but thai people live like the majority in this planet.........possibly under a roof on one's head!!! nseiuhfjsljflsaissnkf111!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got out of the navy serving 6 years. I'm a welder, so will I be able to get a great paying job in Thailand?
I want to live in Thailand for the rest of my life. I love everything about Thailand; the culture, the food, everything really, but is it difficult to make a great living in my line of work?

no, you cant work in thailand. if you could, you would only get 30 to 50 baht 1 hour thai wages.........lol if you do your homework, you can live there very cheap, but you have to be smart!
2 :
I doubt that a company in Thailand would hire you unless you have some very special skills that a Thai person could not do. Welders are a dime a dozen here and the pay is extremely low. Only way I could see you getting a job here, if some international company with a contract with Thailand needs some special skilled welder that a Thai couldn't do. I think your chances of being a welder are slim to none.
3 :
I'm not sure how good you are at your job, but this might be something to consider: Try to get a job as a welder on an oil rig or platform or in the oil/pipeline industry somewhere out of your home country. The reason is this: most international oilfield welders work 28/28, meaning they work 28 days on, and 28 days off. You will make excellent money when you're working, and you can spend your days off in Thailand. BTW, forget about getting a job in Thailand as a welder, you won't make sh*t....
