I want to live in Thailand for the rest of my life. I love everything about Thailand; the culture, the food, everything really, but is it difficult to make a great living in my line of work?

no, you cant work in thailand. if you could, you would only get 30 to 50 baht 1 hour thai wages.........lol if you do your homework, you can live there very cheap, but you have to be smart!

I doubt that a company in Thailand would hire you unless you have some very special skills that a Thai person could not do. Welders are a dime a dozen here and the pay is extremely low. Only way I could see you getting a job here, if some international company with a contract with Thailand needs some special skilled welder that a Thai couldn't do. I think your chances of being a welder are slim to none.

I'm not sure how good you are at your job, but this might be something to consider: Try to get a job as a welder on an oil rig or platform or in the oil/pipeline industry somewhere out of your home country. The reason is this: most international oilfield welders work 28/28, meaning they work 28 days on, and 28 days off. You will make excellent money when you're working, and you can spend your days off in Thailand. BTW, forget about getting a job in Thailand as a welder, you won't make sh*t....
