I am a 25 year old American looking to teach English in Thailand later this year. Is there any good information I should know about for someone in my position. Maybe some recommendations of books or articles about Thai culture or traveling in and around Thailand?

You will find all sorts of travel guides in a library with information about culture and valuable travel information. If you have been arrested for sex crimes against little children stay in your own country!

Thailand is very easy to travel around - people are friendly and helpful... be polite - be calm - do not lose your temper - anger is not cool - smiling is - the Thai will judge you by your smile - smile first on meeting and often - try and learn some language, it will be helpful - and have fun. in your school, do not talk badly or criticize anyone, even if they are doing something stupid - don't be smarter than they are - - sometimes your logic will not be their logic - keep your eyes open and your mouth shut... good luck
